Hello, I wish to transform a part of my basement into a giant aquarium. The piece measures 16.4 - 17.7 feet for 7.2 of height. My first question is whether it is possible to have a couple of blackheaded shark? I already have a blue point ray and a bamboo shark in a tank for almost 2 years. Second question would it be possible to use a tarpaulin pond to cover the slab of the basement and the walls? Only the front surface will be made with glass Last point if my project holds the road what kind of shark could suit my project? Thank you for your help See you soon

So yes you are right for the conscruction of the tank I will need the help of a professional and I wait for the first answers but in the summer they are late to arrive ... I live in France and very few people here have this type of instalation so I find very little answer to my question. Here is the population I would like:
Atelomycterus marmoratus
Carcarhinus melanopterus
Port jackson
Sphyrna tiburo
Chiloscyllium punctatum
blacktip
Bonnethead - Sphyrna tiburo
Then I will introduce 2 murenes and a couple of reef stingray - Taeniura lymma

I am not an expert on shark keeping, but as far as my knowledge goes, the C. Melanopterus and Sphyrna Tiburos will not be able to finish it's glide path in a 17.7ft long tank. The Black Tip Reef Shark will grow to a massive 5ft size maybe even 6ft if kept well. I've seen bonnethead sharks kept alone in an aquarium but it is better to keep it in a school of 5-7 sharks, therefor the aquarium that you mentioned will not be able to accommodate that.
Other than that, I don't see much problems with the other species you've mentioned. Some of the threads in this forum will say that the Taeniura Lymma is not easy to keep in a home aquarium.

Thank you for your reply. If I rephrase your idea, only black tip and tubiro would not be compatible in my project? As for the blue dotted line, I already have one in a specific tank for more than 2 years, the only fear I can have is that it could serve as a meal. What would it be the swimming surface required for the black tip?

Instead - either look into a Whitetip reef - still grows to about 5' long, but they are a non-ORV shark. So they can be kept in a smaller pond than the Blacktip Reef.
Here is another option to consider - go with a smaller pond (8-10 feet/ 2.4-3.0 meters) in diameter for the Bamboos, Coral Catsharks and stingrays.
Instead - either look into a Whitetip reef - still grows to about 5' long, but they are a non-ORV shark. So they can be kept in a smaller pond than the Blacktip Reef.

If I understand you think that it would be possible to maintain a black tip and a goodhead in baby in my tank, but that they will grow fast to take the advantage on the other is it?
So the tank is limited so they can swim properly?
What would be the mandatory ORV for black tip? 18-20 feet?
Because a white tip would be enormous it grows up to 6.25 feet without problem not? Because the black tip will stay around 5 feet no?
