I have a 29 gallon aquarium that I used as a saltwater quarantine tank but I am going to drain and clean it and keep it since no one wants to buy it.
I'll make it a freshwater tank since most of the saltwater stuff I like need a tank bigger than a 29 gallon.
I'm thinking I'll turn this tank into a 29 gallon freshwater community aquarium.
I need some suggestions on some sort of small to medium cichlid that can live in here with community fish. Would an angelfish be ok in a 29 gallon? If not an angelfish, a festivum??? I like the idea of South American cichlids.
As for other fish, I will do black skirt tetras (about 10), corydoras catfish, and serpae tetras and maybe a few hatchet fish.
What would be your suggestions for a 29 gallon freshwater community?
I have no set stocking list yet but am getting ready to set up one.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks MFK!

Would do a planted tank with corys, tetras and hatchet fish. It'll be nice.

Angelfish are fine maybe 3 at the most.

Alright! Awesome I love angelfish, so gives me an excuse to raise a trio with black skirt tetras, corys, and some plants.

Angelfish will be pretty , not too sure of your tanks dimension but these guys (when adult) prefer a taller tank (around 18")
They can be moved to my larger South American tank when they outgrow my 29 gallon. I think they'd look nice with geophagus, severum, and chocolate cichlid.
