I need to separate the two tanks before this all happens. Right now I have two large sumps in series running the 470 and 375 gallon tanks. Going to be a day's work for sure.
I don't envy you in that task lol! Those tanks are beautiful, that's going to be rediculous once you get the fronts in there!! BTW, I'm incredibly jealous of that emperor angel, my favorite fish period. Good luck with the tear down
Thanks! I love that Emperor too, he barks like a dog when I walk by. I'll be keeping him, a few wrasses, my powder blue tang, my lavender tang and a couple Klein Butterfly Fishes. All that plumbing is 2", some going through the wall.
OK, I'm wanting to bump the thread as I'm going to have many questions in the weeks to come. I've got my 375 gallon tank empty and ready to go. I bought a Fluval FX6 for mechanical filtration and I have a huge wet dry filter as well.
I just need to add sand and find the rocks for aquascaping. Then I have a couple friends that are going to help me plumb it.
When filling the tank the first time with water, should I just add tap to the tank and sump, then dechlorinator?
Tap is fine, no need to dechlor if your not adding fish anytime soon. It will naturally gas off. Unless you have chloramine and need to dose for that. I got my rock from a local landscaping supply. Looking forward to seeing this up and running!
Thanks, stempy. I'm recovering from some really tough back surgery which set me back a couple of months. I'm hoping in the next 3-4 weeks to have water.
Got the trickle filter plumbed and its running now with no leaks, took three nights to put it all together! Had one stubborn bulkhead leak a bit due to the design, but it's fixed now after a two hour battle. My plan is to drain all the rodi water, clean up the glass a bit, then drop in my sand and rocks. I got a bottle of cycling bacteria from an online store to kickstart things.
