These little lads came in today

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Beautiful polys! :D

Both look WC, although the dels patterns are rather dull in a way. Maybe it's just from settling in

Thanks for the input guys - I'm sure other experienced hobbyists will chime in too. Just out of curiosity, how does one tell a CB/WC teugelsi, delhezi or any other polypterides apart?

Here's how I have a look, with examples from my tank :)

Wild caught: Richer colouration, more elongated form and flatter, longer head. They also tend to eat a little less

Captive bred: A bit less colourful, shorter and stockier build with a more compressed head. They also tend to eat more IMG_1000.JPG

Hope my sens could help you :)

A little update - these two laps came in today. They're extremely skinny but fortunately they've started eating.

I reckon these are CB but there's a chance they're WC as well. Would be great to hear what you guys think. Cheers!

Once they are fed and full we can see :)

The body shape of the Del looks WC to me but the head doesn't as much. Maybe it's just been underfed, which is common in LFS, so it hasn't had a chance to develop a belly. ;)

The Teug, hard to tell.

Others are better at this than I am. A lot of CB polys get a "beer gut" appearance - they don't stay uniformly streamlined as they grow. The heads look different as well, I see that sometimes they look more round / sloped / convex on the head, sometimes there are froggy looking eyes, though I find all that harder to distinguish on the Teugelsi. The CB Dels can have some really cool patterns.

J jaws7777 has a wild caught Teug. I would say the majority of the rest of us who have them are CB. You can look for differences in this thread.

Keep posting pictures! I think the straight side shots are the most helpful personally.

How big are the Del / Teug?

I'll try to find photos of WC vs CB Delhezi for you too.
