.....and good thing he blew himself up before he could harm anyone else.I hope he didn't have any kids. If he did, hopefully they got their brains from their mom.

I was wondering why the entire car wasn't obliterated.
Yeah, the photo is purposely blurred but it looks like the torso and legs are reduced to pulpy mush....what a mess. Thanks for the explanation and grenade comparison. That looks like a Russian F1 grenade. (Could be something else as I'm not in their military.)
The F1 uses 60 grams of TNT versus a US M67 that uses 180 grams of Composition B. Also, Comp B is 33% more effective as TNT. So, I'd guess you are dealing with 25% of the force of an M67. However, no doubt that is enough force to kill you if you are holding it.
It's possible he bled to death or died from shock if it took off his arm or damaged his legs which appeared to be blurred out.
Stupid way to go out.
Poor guy. I am lucky I didn't have access to grenades during high school.
Well I graduated High school early, but that doesn't mean I didn't spend more time than I should have playing with fire, deodorant bottles, and gasoline than I should have. It was one of many strange "hobbies" that I've had. Neither nor any of my friends ever got anything worse than singed hair and little burns, though.Funny you mention high school. I remember there was a rumor that a guy in our school blow himself up playing with a grenade. Not to the point of disfiguring himself, mostly just burns. No one knew it was true or not. From what I knew of the guy, the shoe definitely fit, kinda strange, I think he was in his 20's when he finally graduated.
