All dead or disappeared. Currently busy and not collecting eggs but i see them laying.
litigator666 how is everything going? Do you currently have any eggs/fry? My fry have started eating microworms as far as I am aware. Egg sacs appear to be gone. They have grown alot since hatching in this short time. Hope you are having better luck and they can make it past the 1cm mark. I will let you know if mine make it past that.
Is the tank covered? I've read that for their lungs to develop properly they need to have very warm moist air. If it's not covered I'd suggest you cover it with glass or plexiglass to keep in heat and moisture.
Is this true? I wouldn't expect it to be the case in nature? I mean they are tough fish so I would expect their lungs would develop as they age and start breathing at the surface. I wasn't planning on doing this and plan to see if my fry develop fine or not. They are around 7mm at this time. Guess I will find out if mine make it past the 1cm mark. Lets hope. Not doing too badly at this point for my first attempt at raising fry. I think around 15 - 30 are alive at this point. Many are exploring and swimming around the tank. I had less sucess raising fancy guppy fry lmao. That was my only other attempt at raising any fry before these sens.
You should keep a log on everything especially water parameters.
Just something I read awhile back. "Our" air is more conditioned in our houses then in their natural habitat. So the reason for the glass top would be two fold stop them from jumping and stop the water from evaporating and trapping it in a confined space that the bichirs can draw air from. Nice and humid just like home. Do I know its 100% needed or true no. But there is a fact on mud puppies/ tiger salamander larva that they need a warm humid area to help in the transformation, not so different. Is this true? Have you tried again or had any success raising your fry? I currently have 3 fry on the go that I believe will survive. Two have made it past the 1cm mark.
