How much would a 220 weigh?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Unfortunately it does still have sand in it so its gonna be even more annoying to get gonna have to bring 2 trucks. And on top of that i was in a car accident today and messed up my back but with or without my back i will get this tank lol

I suggest looking into hiring professional movers if possible. Don't attempt to injure your back more.

Thats what I'm talking about. I've moved 180's with only two people. I think with four people would be more than enough too be honest. I'm guessing the tank is glass right?

So the two top plastic braces are snapped so could i just silicone them back into place ??? Or do i seriously have to remove them and get glass ?

I would not trust silicone to hold in tensile strength. I would make a stainless steel bracket that fits the outside dimensions and silicone them in place..

I would have gone with 4 55 gallon tanks, but I can never find some one to help. Lol

it all depends where it's going. when I moved my 125 with friend we used heavy duty wood ramps to slide it off of the truck and onto a small 4 caster wooden furniture dolly.

we only really picked it up when we had to set it on the stand. we also used cardboard and slid it down the stairs with both of us below it. i know a 125g weighs half of what a 220 does, but some of the moving techniques are similar.

I picked up my 220 last year. It was an old school O’Dell tank that weighed about 550lbs completely empty. It took every bit of four guys to lift it up into my truck, then from my truck to my garage, and finally from my garage into my house on its stand.

I think that leaving the sand in is going to be impossible. Get a shop vac and suck it all out before you try to move it.

Just a little update,

Siliconed glass to the plastic frame in the middle of the tank, ( yep didnt hold cause plastic and glass arent friends in the silicone world lmao i knew that but hey when youre on pain killers you dont use logic much)

So i got some wood and screwed some stainless steel brackets on it to help brace the tank and i glued the plastic frame back together with epoxy, gonna get 2 more planks of wood to add more bracing to the middle cause i dont trust the old plastic.

Hopefully it all works according to plan
