Over stocked cichlid and loach tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally I would keep your favorite cichlid and the loaches. Will still probably be over stocked, but will be much more manageable than the current stock list. And I could not bear to part with those loaches if I were you- I am jealous!

You should be fine as long as everyone is healthy and happy there’s nothing wrong with over stock as you can manage it I’m overstocked too people tell me on here all the time but when I go to my aquarium society they tell me I’m good don’t let these guys scare you off the inch per gallon rule is completely bs it sounds like you got a good management on that tank so you should be good don’t over feed.

Complete and utter BS the nature of the jags and the RTM will kick in and they will kill or be killed keep one cichlid and the loaches.

Finally someone who agrees. All fish including jags and mota have lived together for over a year only fish I have lost was a jd from old age in all that time. Each fish is an individual just like us. Appreciate the kind words.

Tank is very manageble at present and I always keep a close eye on all fish. The loaches are my favourite ;).

really should listen to the advise given here it has saved me time and time again and I'm an old timer

Over 1 year is not very long. If you are able to do the work to keep nitrates below 20ppm, then the only thing to watch for is aggression with in next few years.

1 year is nothing to species that typically live 10-15+ yrs, not to mention this is a 100 gallon tank. lol

And how do we tell of a fish is happy ? Do they smile more ?
