I was looking through some old photos and found a pic of my FH when he was younger. I compared it to him right now and I’m just thinking. Wtf happened. He is maybe just getting older idk I still love him. I’ve always maintained Good water quality. I took a small break from the hobby the last two years and only fed him a mix of pellets and the occasional shrimp. I’m completely obsessed and invested again. Anyways these pics are about 3 years ago -> current pics. Someone said he was trash but I guess the quality decline went unnoticed to me until now. He lives in a 150 gal. Bottom are 3 years ago. Also new account.

Wow, he looked amazing 3 years ago! Still impressive now IMO. Do Flowerhorns usually dull in color a few years down the line?

I guess he is around three and a half years old.Prime of a flowerhorn imo is between 1 and 2 years old of age.So we can say he got older a bit and his colors got paler too.Still nice fish and with color pellets he can regain his color.

By the way red dragons get old quick. When they pass 2 years they generally get dropped tails and full open mouths. So it is a bit normal for your fish to get uglier
