IN A PLACE
Hi folks,

I thought I would share what happened to my tank when the circuit break tripped due to a faulty float valve causing an overflow from my reservoir and consequent loss of power to my tank for about 12 hours.

In addition to replacing the float valve, I added a battery back up for my air pump, and a device called Level Sense Pro, which notifies me via text and email if there is an outage or water spill.

So sorry for your losses :( The Level Sense Pro sounds interesting. Have you considered getting a generator to protect your investment? Although, if a circuit breaker tripped, a generator would not have helped you. Too much wattage on the one breaker?

Very sad. I am going to take note of your remedy. I have always wondered about something to notify me. I'll check out the Level Sense Pro. So sorry for you.

It gives me a sense of security and I can always call my wife or neighbor or petsitter to remedy any issues when I'm away.

I have a generator in case of long outages, and have used it several times. It was worth every penny!

It was actually a surge protector that triggered off because a float valve in my water change reservoir had a slow leak, overflowed, and water got into the power strip. I have relocated the powerstrip and replaced the valve.

I forgot to mention that the Level Sense Pro also has humidity and temperature monitors for the room. If the room gets over 90, I get a text as well.

Sorry for the loss. That was a beast aro and some of the largest dollars I have seen.

I must also say brilliant recovery. thank you for sharing your experience

Just ordered 3 if these devices. I also have generators but this addresses outlet and circuit specific issues. Also if drip drains clog or fail the float switch can act as an overflow alert. Very useful as well.

Let me know how the install goes. It sounds like you will be using more of the options the device has and I'm curious to see how you set it up.

Sorry for the loss, but thanks for sharing. I recently had GFIs added to all outlets that had aquariums. I messed up w/ the main fish room. The electrician suggested one breaker to save money - problem is, when it goes, several tanks are out. So money saved on the front end create bigger issues on the back. For folks doing it from scratch, it is worth the extra expense to have individual GFIs.

knobhill we've been having a ton of issues with level sense doing updates on the network. Have you been experiencing the same? Tons of emails with alarm saying the system's down
