I’m setting up a 125g and was going to mix sand with a little bit of pea gravel but I wouldn’t be able to vacuum it like I would gravel right? I would just have to skim off the top like you do with sand?

Sarah J not exactly, sand is a lot lighter than gravel so you would suck it all up through the siphon. I try every once in a while to get under there but you do lose a bit. I use a python siphon so I can just turn the valve off if to much is being removed.

So it’s okay that I don’t get into it like I would gravel? I’m actually going to Home Depot today to get pool filter sand. I think I’ll just let that be the bottom. I’m going to set some larger round rocks in there (I don’t know what they’re cslled lol”
