20g hospital. I’d prefer 10 just for cost but I’m sure ammonia is sky rocketing with her in it either way. And for the treatments I was really just hoping to see it not worse. But yea I know it can take a few weeks for the fish to get better. Hoping everything goes roughly back to normal if everything works. I’m expecting permanent blindness and possibly a permanent cloudy eye. Not sure if the wounds will heal all the way or not.

I always drained the hospital tank daily (or less frequently depending on bioload), refilled with water from the main tank, and re-dosed the antibiotic. Then top off the main tank. This way, the fish can go back into the main tank without acclimation. It wouldn't be too bad to do with a 20 gal. Maybe only a 50% change daily then half dose of antibiotic is needed.

Fish can recover amazingly well so I wouldn't assume she'd end up blind. If it's corneal clouding it should go away on its own. If it's a cataract it might be treatable with lanosterol. I was looking at it to treat my bird.

If u have another seasoned filter that is cycled put it on the front of tank..help break down ammonia..who cares what hoapital tank looks like..good luck..i would be wondering how he got that..water quality...scrapping against rock...battle with another fish..ill watch hope u save him or her

Was originally thinking it was an injury from something, but it got worse so fast I’m not sure. Yesterday I also noticed the other eye looked a little popped out. Just stinks because she’s still swimming and everything just fine like almost nothing’s wrong. I haven’t fed her as she seems like she can’t find the food when I drop it in the tank. If it’s bacterial then I’d still be confused because my Male jag is completely fine.

Treat her...put u may have to make tough decision..dont let her suffer..like members said antibiotics take time..use salt..if she loses both eyes..that sad and no way for fish to surive and defend herself..i hope she makes it

Yea, with the other eye popping out I’m more concerned. I’m sure it’s painful. If I don’t see any improvements when I wake up I’ll probably go to the store and pick up clove oil. Just wish the treatment would have done anything. Literally just worse every day.

That sucks sorry

You may want to look for an aquatic vet. If that search engine doesn't help then call your local exotics vets and ask if there's anyone who treats fish. It's a small community so they'd know.

I ended up euthanizing her. Both eyes were horrible with a stream of something coming out of a hole above one of her eyes. Body and fins looked healthy but with how she was, it’s no life for a fish. Thoroughly cleaned out the hospital tank and removed all media. Hopefully the fiancée will allow me to start the qt tank back up and look for a new friend for my male jag.
