Tall tanks or Long Tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tall long and wide ;) Lot of people don't like cleaning a tall tank, understandably, but IMO a tall tank give a visual impact that a shorter tank just can't give. It's like having a wall of fish in front of you which I really like. My 240g is 30" tall and I love that about it. It IS harder to clean down to the bottom, but luckily I am 6'5" with long arms so it's a bit easier for me. I can see why some would not like it though for sure.

Long and wide for sure. I have one tall tank and I’m short >.< So I have to use a step stool to reach the bottom. It’s a pain.
I also tend to like fish that utilize length more then hight. So it works better all around.

Being vertically challenged, I need a step ladder to climb out of my tank and a platform and step stool to climb in it.

tall tanks for me. certain aesthetic appeal to them. i like to make interesting displays out of my tanks and the higher tanks give you more without taking up lots of floor space. I'll probably never have a tank wider than 2' because i just dont see myself giving up the square footage.

you can also divide tall tanks laterally if you wish with the right decor.

I prefer long tanks no more than 24" tall for cleaning purpose. Only thing tall short tanks are good for is space saving, if you don't have space for long. Even Discus and Angels really would rather swim long ways. When they get large they like there territory just like any other cichlid.

my favourite are long, low tanks, currently working on a 48x9x8 inch nano; they offer great footprint with low water volumes, make for very attractive showpieces!

I often wanted to make a iwagami river type aquascape in one of those tanks, i think the lower height almost gives more options as far as creative design and play...

I consider 15' x 4' x 4' to be long, tall and wide...at least compared to an average tank

Paco Mom the dims of a tank 15x4x4 is not really a tall tank scaling it down to a 180 which is 6x2x2 i would consider 15x4x4 more long then tall now a tank i think they should discontinue making is the 110 tall
