Tall tanks or Long Tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice comeback "back from the dead"! I could go on about "scaling back" operations and how raising fry can be a tough "roe" to hoe but I think this is it from the Punman for today.

I'm a guy who likes long tanks, so I can pimp out my tank says the OP.

I am not comprehending the gist of the original poster. Is he trying to get his fish involved in some illegal fish prostitution scheme?:D
Why did you think of it in a sexual way?

Let me get this straight: if the height of a tank has to be greater than the length of the tank to be considered tall, then by deduction, the width of a tank has to be greater than the length of the tank to be a wide tank. To be considered a long tank, the length has to be greater than the height and width of the tank. Congratuations! Any one with a standard size tank has a long tank! 10 gallon, 29 gallon tanks are all long tanks! Amazing. I learn something new every day.

This is what I was trying to say before lol, your tank may be 4' tall, and yes that is tall, but if its 15' long, that would be considered a long tank. Width and length are interchangeable, if the tank is wider than it is long... turn it 90 degrees and it's a long tank. So there can only really be tall (height is greatest dim) or long tanks when it comes to standard glass aquariums. Of course there are all sorts of weird custom dimension tanks like cubes and hex, etc.

vincentwugwg vincentwugwg now THAT is a tall tank!

So you consider a standard 55 gallon tank a long tank? Interesting

Yes absolutely, 48" long compared to 12" wide and 18" tall, definitely a long tank.
That's what I was trying to say before, "tall" in this context usually means height is largest dim. And I personally like length to be largest dim to allow for more territory for the fish.
