Seen some nice golden giant goramys today2-3" long and was very tempted to buy one. I have spare tanks I could grow one on in but would have to put it in my main tank at some point. As smaller fish I know giant goramys can be aggressive, the one I have is a 2 foot grey standard color he is very lazy and pretty grumpy.

It'll be 4 years this summer. About 4" when I got him(?). He's about 20" now.
Last summer, I went out to California for a couple of weeks, and I didn't just didn't trust him fasting in the tank. So, I built a pen out of pvc, plastic deer fencing, and pool noodles, and put him in a pond on my property. Had a friend come over and throw in a head of romaine lettuce every few days.
Mine has never caused any problems with tank mates, I am just not sure how he will deal with another goramy. Having said that he didn't like an Oscar I put in with him so I had to rehome it. He is much bigger now and seems to have calmed down a lot so I might give it a go.
