Tank size? Can’t find info anywhee

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Having seen a bunch of wild-caught adults, I suspect the max. size for B. juruense is actually closer to 3 feet than 2. Hard to say if they would ever reach that size in aquaria, though.
Great info to know. Thanks. Got pics by chance? Were you traveling in SA?

The tig we have seen at least one captive raised specimen at 3'. Jur, it appears, we have never seen any over 2'.

Sadly the poor cat didn’t make the trip. He arrived DOA, so I’m getting a refund and gonna go for a jaguar cat, and a syno multp instead, that way I’ll never have to worry about them getting to big. Thanks for all the help :)

Sorry to hear but don't give up so easy, unless you were having second thoughts anyway. Our hobby is teeming with fish losses left and right. This is nothing too surprising.

I just had a baby, 34 weeks, perfectly healthy though, and we had to go to the hospital, and it arrived while I was at the hospital. so my roommate took care of opening box and what not, and it was DOA. So I was upset but not depressed it worked out. I came home, my dad fed way to much or something and I lost almost all my fish. All that are left are my 3 bumblebee cats, 2 pink kissers, 3 moonlight gourami, a spotted Raphael, and 2 silver dollars and a peacock eel. My baby TT I am most upset about got into a whole in a powerhead that was shut off, however he could not get himself out. :( I have 2 jaguar cats coming this week sometime. Also today while at hospital far away, I got an electric blue jack, and 6 geo brassilias , I think are tje name or something like that. Will post a FTS :) today

Sorry for bad pics, on my iPhone lol. And I also forgot I have a Uaru that seems to be a little sick from the bad water quality, as soon as I got home I cleaned everything out cleaned filters and water change. Hope he is okay.

Heartfelt congratulations on the baby! Best wishes to the baby, mommy, and you!

Interesting story. I believe you will rebound just fine. And your tank looks great! Tasteful.

Juruense would probably eat all the tank mates anyway sooner or later.

I am surprised the TT eel couldn't make it out. Most usually, if they can get in a tight spot, they can get out too and they can get out by shifting in reverse, they don't need to get out head first, as they got it.

Thanks I appreciate it, and yeah it was like the part you push to unlatch the suction on the glass I just came home and saw half of him poking out. Had to pull him out with a paper towel, very bad smell. Have heard EBJD are very common to just drop dead or stop eating, hoping that does not happen. Last one I had a few years bad got bloat or something and died after he was doing so well. :(
