280. The beginning of my return!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you leave the leaves in there indefinitely or fish them out at some point? I used to use leaves and peat but would stuff it in a baggy and hang in it the tank for 1-2weeks and then toss em.

They look a bit stumped, still trying to figure out the tank :) Its funny how the two species are sticking together in one group :)

I only noticed the oscars now, very nice colours on them.
Agreed. All the fish swim together except for the flagtail. Someone tried to see if it could fit in their mouth. Flagtail is completely traumatized now.

Just lovely! The tank, the decor, the fishes...just a lovely cohesion to it all :)
Thank you sir!

Thank you. I leave the leaves in the tank until they decompose. It adds junk to the tank but I figured. Oh well. I like the look.

Plants added. The swords are overpowering this display. All good. They’ll go into the 535 when it’s ready and I’ll replace these on here with a smaller species or with jungle val.

I know you always incorperate plants successfully into your scape. Do you have high light and dose nutrients and CO2? Algae thrive in high fish load and light. What’s your strategy to control algae?

That looks awesome! I actually love the plants at the size they are. However, I don’t think it will work with fish that are bigger and need swimming space. That tank is screaming to be a small fish community tank. Tetras, loaches, cories, etc. That would look great.

I don’t dose co2 or nutrients at all. These plants are all easy low-tech plants. My lighting is considered low to moderate. I put in a ton of root tabs since swords are root feeders. My algae control is fish. I’m this case, it’s flagtails.

Thank you . That thought crossed my line as well. Was thinking of putting both bass species on the big tank and put some wild spotted scalare type in here with some festivims and larger characins like Anastomus, triportheus, and some medium sized acaras.

But I really want this to be a bass and like tank.

Nice, it sort of hides the nice woodwork but the fish will appreciate the plants and cover. Those swords should do just fine with some root tabs and sufficient light. I have no problem growing them in low tech tanks.

Thank you. The swords will add much needed cover for now before they move into the bigger tank. I’ll replace with jungle val or smaller red melon swords.

Here’s a video I took. Just zoning out on this tank.
