Just wondering if anybody knows the names of all of the current Cichla species that have been identified. I've seen this chart below on the internet and it has 15 different species. But this may be old. Thanks!

That chart doesn't feature the long sought after C.fogo.
Check out the cichla ID thread in the stickies.

Hey thanks for the information about the Cichla Fogo. I looked this guy up and do they ever have a gorgeous orange coloration. I think I want one of those:)

No problem.I'm not sure if it is a mating/breeding coloration or not but that fish has been on quite a few collector's want list for quite some time.I don't recall hearing of any being brought in so far....who knows, not very long ago intermedia and xingu were considered "wish list" fish lol!

I'm thinking the bright orange coloration could be a variation in the mating coloration of a certain group of Cichla indicative only to a specific location. All I know is none of the other Cichla species have this much orange, if any at all. If this fish does become available, only the guys with really deep pockets will be able to afford it. I guess that counts me out. LOL:D

I bumped a fogo thread for ya.

Yeah fogo’s are basically impossible to get but in the last year a few guys have gotten their hands on some but on the bigger side.
