Longest time out of the hobby?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say 2-3 years, moved 4 times(5 if you count leaving my friends and getting my own place) and never had a place to put one.

It's been about 10+ years and my old 33-gallon Oceanic Cube is being leak tested right now. I ordered new LED lights and a cheap sunsun with UV for it. There's a room in my basement filled with fish tanks mostly 55 and 75 gal, 29 talls with chrome frames, and a 250 gallon bow front acrylic that used to have my Ray and my Arowana

It became an issue of money and time and space and obsession.

As I approach 40 I basically cut the cords, ditched cable, barely watch TV, robots clean my house, and my giant gaming PC fried out... I decided instead of putting $500 into that, I would put 400 into a tank, plant it, keep the water level about 8 inches from the top, run it lidless, install some lovely 14 inch glass outflow and return pipes, get a community going maybe female bettas....

And in six months... o_O

I've prob been invested in the hobby for about 10 years and have always managed to keep at least 1 tank even when I was in college.

Idk if weight is an issue but If space is an issue you can always go with a tall 150

man if i had a garage or something id still have a tank or two, its just hard not having much room :P

Do you have a shelf? You can put something like this on it. Snails aren't fish, but it's better than nothing and you can explore the no-tech/lowtech planted side of the hobby :)

^ Agree!

This is a ~2.5gal fish bowl. I keep red cherry shrimp and java moss in iit. Lighting is a cheap daylight standard LED bulb "75watt equivalent". You can't see it well, but there is a small black sponge bubbler filter in there too.
