What kind of Geophagus is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know it’s not a Braziliensis because they had a more oval shape and mine were very shiny, the two I had were very aggressive ( that’s why this little gal has a chunk of her dorsal fin is missing), so I brought them back to my LFS. They were so beautiful though! These pictures aren’t great because it won’t show the red on her fins:( I think she is very pretty whatever she is. She is hanging out with the Green Terrors:)

Time will tell what your fish is. Glad to hear there are no aggression issues.
Were your brasiliensis more aggressive then the GTs? I’ve always wanted to try these two species together. Think it would make a really nice looking tank.

All I know is I had to keep them away from all fish I had. Then I wanted to see how they would do in the 55 Gallon and they liplocked as soon as I put them together and they both tormented all the other fish, killed a few and this was within 2 days. Those were the only 2 I had. Like I said they were so beautiful, but they were still juveniles and that aggressive who knows how they would be as mature fish. IMO I would think the Braziliensis would destroy a Green Terror but I am certainly no expert on it. I only had them for about 3 months.
