Following along another penninsula setup.

BTW OP, don't mean to doubt but from the picture, it doesnt look like a 71" length tank? Is that just the picture playing tricks?

Yep. It doesn’t look that long due to the height. Crazy to think but its less than 2 times as long as it is high. On the stand it’s not gonna be easy to even feed.

Thanks! I have a glass 75 gallon and 5 gallons of pond matrix. Getting a bunch of laundry bags on Amazon for it. All my other tanks have pretty open sumps and I’m pretty happy with them so I’ll probabky go that route.

Can’t go wrong with a sump. Would love to see some build pics of the sump when you get there. That tanks is sweet!!! The wood possibilities are endless in that height.

Agreed. I’d personally do a 24” height water level and have a foot to make it a riparium. Can glue some fibrous material like ecoweb to the back top 12” and grow terrestrial mosses and ferns along with a couple of bromeliads or orchids.

But hey...that’s my dream...

What I love about seeing empty tanks is that they are blank canvasses you can “paint” on with scape, plants, and fish. Looking forward to this setup!

I love the idea. I may actually not cut off the wood I have and try to get some plants or kiss to grow out the top.

Are you planning to keep drain pipes and return plumbing all in the overflow?

I see that there are two holes on top on the opposite end of the overflow?

I’m going to use the 3 holes in the drain for a hybrid herbie/bean animal setup and split the returns between the 2 holes on the top of the tank.

The overflow bulkheads are 3/4”,3/4” and 1 1/2”. The returns are both 3/4” whoever had this tank loved that size. I would have done at least 1” all the way around. There’s not enough trimming in the box to fit a larger bulkhead so I’m stuck with them.

My overflow is a hybrid as well. That is, Herbie but with a third edrain.

The good thing about the return from the other end of the tank is it will drive flow to the weir/overflow. My locline returns come up and out of the weir. It's offers a little cleaner look for my peninsula, but does prevent some surface flow.

I’m actually using it with the back against the wall. Love the peninsula idea but don’t ha e the space at work. I’m shoehorning it into my office. Haha
