piticians in Minnesota may be about to extirpate Muskie by preventing stocking and encouraging "short harvest"
Very dumb residents are claiming that Muskie are eating all the panfish (most likely The residents are eating the panfish), even tho very extensive studies show that Muskie don't negatively affect panfish populations.

Muskie take a long time to reach maturity
(11 plus years), and are extremely easy to overfish.
Meanwhile Muskie fishing is the fastest growing group of fishing sport in Minnesota.

Are muskies not reproducing on their own, hence the need for stocking?

You'd think, but politicians are involved, they never do the right thing anymore.
It's a revenue stream in the form of more fishing permits purchased so hopefully the politrikians won't do too much damage.

We can only hope and pray
Yes.....I'm not aware of how things are handled in MN but here in the great state of Pennsylvania such matters would be under the jurisdiction of the game commission and not the carpetbaggers.

Luckily I live in arizona, lol, but I do wish they would stock something besides invasive rainbow trout, they stock other species, but have way to much emphasis o. Rainbow trout for a desert state.
