Hi, I've had my redtail kitties for about half a year now, and they've gain a lot of size, but their tailed really haven't gotten any more red color. They're a bit over a foot in length and they're tails are a light pickish color. I've seen catfish on youtube and pet stores that are way smaller with so much more red. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a specific kind of food I should try? I've heard blood worms/shrimp help but blood worms are too small for them now, and shrimp is very expensive. I've been feeding them tilapia mainly sense they've gotten bigger. Once its warmed up id like to go catch pan fish and feed them those.

This is mostly genetics and if they’re at that size and there’s still no coloration, diet can only go so far. Idk where you’re at but here shrimp is around the same price as tilapia 3.99-5.99lbs.
