Wow. That thread was very interesting. Thank you for sharing DMD123 DMD123

Sounds like there is a pretty large consensus that 4 UJ with a handful of cichlids should be manageable in my 75.

They say that males are harder to catch cause they go to the deeper part of the river or lake, they only come up when mating season but they dont have a real study to it, im not sure about captive breed.
Shouldn't that also reflect in CB? And since polys come from so many habitats that seems a bit off as well...

I don't think that would reflect in CB. Assuming there is a normal ratio of males and females the males wouldn't have anywhere to go in captivity.

Another guess is maybe the males do as polyaddict said and/or fight to the death during mating season further diminishing their numbers...aaah who knows

What I meant to say is, what's the ratio looking like in CB fish? Poly's don't seem to be much of a territorial spawner, and maybe males are able to sort out a few ladies in a season. Loads of potential reasons

That im not sure, cause from what ive seen or read here that even when the eggs hatch the female always out number males, there was anothe discussion here that it has to do with water perimiters thats why females out number males, i forgot where that thread is.

Wow really interesting.

So just making sure I've covered my bases and since considering the one source I was using was wrong or at least less than accurate for my use, the aren't any lj species that could comfortably live in a 75 with uj and cichlids right?

That's tough to say. I mean CB endli may take forever to outgrow that tank but there really isn't a definitive correct answer.

I wouldn't put wc in a 75 but that may be just me.

You might possibly find a semi-short or short bodied endli that might work but to me they just dont look right. Otherwise stick with your original plan of uppers.
