So, I was hanging around my apartment building last night and what do I hear? Some weird puffing sounds. I looked around and saw this fat guy sitting around and screaming. That's right. It's a huge European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus). I guess, he lives close my. There are lots of hedgehogs in Tiraspol, but it's the first one I saw this spring.

Well, it turned out, there was a second hedgehog in there. I am not sure what they were doing, either fighting or trying to mate. I watched them for a minute and left them be. I guess, they need privacy. The second hedgehog was much smaller.

Here is the a short video of these two hedgehog. Notice the weird noises larger hedgehog is making. Kind of amusing. Oh, and they did not really care for me being there))

To be fair both mating and fighting probably leaves these guys injured, good to see pics of them as European hedgies are declining at an alarming rate.
Except they're introduced pests here, and probably it would be best for the environment if people killed them on sight. But, at least they're one of the less damaging pests.

Because they are kinda cute.

No, you can't kill them. You Australians are cruel. In any case, I live in Europe

They are a lot of them here in Transnistria. they live in a city now for some reason. I see them often at night. in the country site, people often leave milk for them

Do you think milk is good for them? Perhaps that's why they can live in the city.

Everything I've seen says that milk is bad for them. Unless your intent is to give them diarrhea. Like most animals, they're lactose intolerant.

Simplest is just dog or catfood and water. Unless you buy actual hedgehog food.
