In hindsight, I wish I'd kept the chocolates for my bass tank. I think they were about just the right speed. I also think parrots and pikes might make a good combo. The parrots are more like a vieja in attitude and don't get pushed around by much.
I agree. My parrot really reminded me of a SA vieja. I found them to “know” how to not get pushed around by displaying their flank and spreading out their fins. The pikes would then move on and leave them alone. Any fish that ran when the pikes would push would be chased and beaten.
I agree they aren't friendly towards conspecifics most of the time. I was lucky enough to watch a group of about 15 at the wet spot that were all in the 4 to 7 inch range and spotted 2 fending off a corner together.
On the topic of hith, mine did develope a bit in the beginning, but then it didn't get any worse. Same thing happened with my pikes. I would say if your pikes aren't getting it, there's a good chance the parrots won't as well.
