how long arowana in 180 gallon

my friend bought an arowana to growout and he has it in a 40 gallon tank Im getting a 180 gallon this summer and wanted to know how long would he last before he out grew it and I had to find him a new home and are 3 oscars ok tank mates if he is bigger than them

make it 65 gallon
 
nah, arowanas grow very fast, and you will be surprised at how difficult it is to find a home for a large arowana. Agreed with tlindsey, not a good idea. I'd just get fish that can live in your tank size
yah but my friend already got him like its better to be in a 180 then in a small tank or if someone buys him and puts him in a 55 gallon
 
It's a tough situation, you are right that a 180 is better than a 55, but it's also possible somebody could buy it and put it in a properly sized aquarium. I really wish LFS's would just stop selling them tbh. Should have to order one online if you really want it, the shipping cost i'm sure would deter most irresponsible keepers.

i agree i told my friend it was gonna get 3ft long but he said ur getting a 180 so it will be fine in their for awhile
