Picked this guy up at a lfs. It was labeled red texas. I did not buy it thinking it was one. I bought it on personality. This is the most aggresive active personality fish of this size i have ever seen besides a dovii. He is 3.5-4" will flare. Chase finger and did in fact bite me when i put my finger in the tank. Im guessing some type of texas hybrid? Maybe flowerhorn mixed in? Thoughts?20180613_174228.jpg 20180613_174208.jpg 20180613_174204.jpg 20180613_174144.jpg

yah i agree

Flowerhorn and red texas are both blanket terms for hybrid CA cichlids. That fish is definitely a hybrid, but without knowing the lineage from the breeder, there is no way for us to tell exactly what went into it. Flower line would tell me flowerhorn/trimac/lyonsi is somewhere in there, pearling on the sides looks like texas cichlid. But like I said, no way to tell for sure.

I would just go with Red Texas. I keep two RT. One looks like a Pearl Scale Green Carpintis W/ red edging between the scales. The other looks like a super pearled Texas × Trimac. Both unfaded, but really good looking fish.
