After a few years and a number of pups grown out, this setup is pretty beat up and time for a rebuild.

BBA took over the background and it is pretty scratched.

The plan is to build an island setup/clear on all sides. Not covering the stand so the plumbing has to be clean and attractive. Using black PVC and schedule 80 fittings/union valves to keep it attractive.

This will be a hardscaped tank and a sandbox for a bucket of geos I’ve been growing out.

When I see these threads I always hope the build is already complete so I can get daily updates all the way through set up and stocking

can't wait to see what you do with it

Now this sounds interesting
Should be a fun build. P PYRU this so the thread I said I would post when it came to plumbing.

Polish off the cameras and put some more photos up

The build/rebuild threads are definitely some of the best reads on this forum

The design:

-72”x36”x22” acrylic restored tank
-Metal open stand (refinished/black)
-Steel supported Ply floor/grey vinyl sheets
-70 gallon acrylic sump rebuild/K1 setup
-Clean airline setup
-Bent PVC vs fittings
-DIY shadow style overflow on roids
-Clean, clear upstairs with minimal cords/lines

This is sort of that example tank/filtration we recommend to members as simple and reliable but visually appealing as well.

The old stand is swapped out to a wide open metal one from a previous 300. The sump is taller so space is crucial.

More pics were posted in a previous thread but the BG tear down was too fun not to include.

^ this is the baseline we’re working with. Can’t see a damn thing. Novus wouldn’t touch this

Nice work! How sturdy is the metal stand where it is angle iron vs square tube?
