Gymnothorax Richardsoni (Richardson's Small Reticulated Moray)

Hello Eelish friends!

Let us discuss this lovely eel, the Gymnothorax Richardsonii (AKA "Bakasi Eel" in the Phillipines, "Belut Burik" in Indonesia).

It is found in shallow waters in the countries of South China Sea, sometimes even in the estuarium.

Its skin patterns reminds us of spiny eels, but G. Richardsonii is a true eel, and mostly marine (sometimes enter brackish).

Oh, maybe it is not popular because considered not as pretty as other morays such as E. Nebulosa, E. Tesselata, etc, ?

Somewhat understandable. Most people want colorful fishes or oddball fishes with interesting patterns. Dull eels like G. Richardson and U. Micropterus will have hard time competing against more beautiful eels in the ornamental fish market.
