Hi! To all you stingraypros out there!
I have a Leopoldi Malé pup, 7-8” now.
He’s friendly with his tankmates, 5 Datnoids.
The tank is aprox. 150 gallon.
These are moving to a bigger tank within 6 months.
I am having 2 marble pups coming to me in a week or so. These are about 5”.
Eating good and healthy where they are now.
Could it be dangerous for the smaller marblepups to live with their bigger companion in this tank?
Is there a big risk the bigger Leopoldi could harm the smaller ones?
I’ve had rays for some time but only individuals alone, not among other rays untill now.
What do you think? What is your experiences of this?

They should be fine together, you may want to divide the tank for the first few weeks to ensure the new arrivals are eating ok in your tank

Thank you, that’s what i thought to and hoping i can confirm this with you other raykeepers. I will divide them if i cant see or be sure they are eating and behave as they should. But my goal if all that work is not to divide them. As long as no one think it could be risky to have the small teacup rays together with a bigger 8” (still a pup) with the risk of the bigger could harm, hurt or kill the smaller ones for any reason. Hope not. Anyone having experienced smaller rays being killed by a bigger individual but not mature?

i had put 6-7" rays together with 4" rays.... so far so good.. except sometimes the smaller rays will have bit marks round the discs and will sulk for a day or 2 and then start eating again

You just need to make sure the new ones are eating the same foods as you feed your existing one. At 8" a ray is more robust and feisty than a 5".
5" could be a very young ray or a ray that's 5 months old depending on how large it was when born.
8" ray can go in with adult size rays as it can compete for food but a 5" will get bullied out of the way for food.
You just need to be careful and monitor closely.

Never had any problems putting Ray's of those sizes together. Like Jim Barry said, a divider is a good idea at first.

Thanks for your experiences, and thank you Jim Barry also.
So the only (biggest) concern could be the food. Not a bigger one bite or hurt a smaller ray in any way. It feels better now:)

I have an 8" bd hybrid girl with a little 5" p14 which only arrived two weeks ago
Have no problems and they get along fine
As has been said, I just make sure that the little one gets her share of food

Good luck with your babies

Yessir. A divider let's u know for sure whether they are eating or not. Hard to tell sometimes without. Best of luck always.☺
