its been awhile MFK. I moved to south Florida about 2 years ago and sold off all my fish when I moved. I have been keeping reef tanks since being here. But I have officially made the decision to get back into monsters!

I’ll start by saying I wanted to go bigger but I’ll be moving to a new house a few towns over in January so I didn’t want to go crazy and have it be a pain to move.

So down to the dirty details.

8x5x30
Filtered by a DIY garbage can setup. Will be pumping around 4K gallons an hour.
Pond will be in my screened in pool area so it’ll be protected from all our crazy south Florida wild life.

Definite stock list:
RTC
TSN
Silver aro
Self wild caught peacock bass

Will be mostly fed by cichlids and shad since they are everywhere and I can throw my cast net at them.

I’m going to cap it with plywood and do bamboo or something to make it look nice.

All the materials should be arriving today or tomorrow so I will be updating this throughout the week!!

Since I don’t have any pictures of the pond yet here’s a few examples peacock bass I have caught

Hey man congrats on the move. Hope your loving it down there. That congi I got from you is still going strong.

Looking forward to seeing this pond come together

Pond was filled today! Currently just had a mag 9.5 sitting in it for water movement. Hope to get the filter situated tomorrow.

Official dime dimensions ended up being 86x60x27
It’s got around 24in of depth which is less than I had hoped but it’ll be fine

I’m also working on a 2x4 cap to surround it that I’m going to cap off with bamboo to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

Will be updating daily for the next few days as I wanna get this ***** finished and stocked with some fish!!

I’ll probably start with a few cichlids and a bunch of wild guppies/molly just toget it cycled

Well I had a few things happen. The mag pump
I originally was running blew up literally lol. The casing cracked right down the side. So I invested in a new pond pump that’s pushing 4000gph for the main filter.

Life also happened and I got busy so I haven’t made much progress at all. I picked up a hybrid redtail x tiger shovelnose tonight and have him floating in the tank since he’s only around 3-4in. Once he puts some weight on and I’m comfortable with his ability to find food I’ll drop him in the main pond. He’s the first fish to
Go in as of now.

Also hope to start building the surround sooner than later. Was doing a big turbo
Swap on my car so that’s bad all my attention as of late
