Just made a little video below about the new Jebao DCQ-3500 water pump (28 watt, 3500 l/hr, 3m HP) I've just installed in my 88 gallon tank. It's the first dc pump I've used, and overall I'm (so far) quite pleased with the unit.

*Best watched in HD*

If you'd rather not watch the video, here's a summary...
Pros:
-- only 24v so safer to use, and utilizes a lot less electricity than comparable sized regular pumps.
-- super quiet, can't really even hear it all (bubbles from my air stones are much louder).
-- generates less heat compared to regular pumps, very helpful in a hot country like where I live.
-- using the digital controller, it's easy to adjust several things such as flow rate (convenient when it comes to properly dialing in flow rate through a UV sterilizer).

Cons:
-- bright red color; not in issue if in a sump or a pond, but stands out a bit too much in an in-tank placement (which to be fair, most people won't be doing, in a sump is much more widely used).
-- not sure if it's an issue with just my particular unit or a common problem with Jebao dc pumps, but when cranked up to 100% power, it only shows 23-25 watts on the controller, not 28.

Other than these, only time will tell how dependable it really is, I'll update if any issues later on, but seems a pretty solid unit.

where did you buy it from?
info about warranty ?

Hey Wolfen, I bought the DCQ-3500 from one of my regular shops at the humongous Chatuchak aquarium market in Bangkok. In fact I don't think they're widely available in the US at this time -- I couldn't find a single other YouTube video featuring the DCQ before posting mine.

However I did find one link on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Jebao-Adjustable-Controller-Aquarium-DCQ-6000/dp/B0791K7PLM and also on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jebao-DCQ-...ilent-Frequency-Conversion-Pump-/232695418994. They're also easily available on AliExpress, if you can use that service (but shipping fees might be really high).

Regarding warranty I'm really not sure; frankly I don't think I've ever used a warranty in my life; too much trouble, I just get something else (and never use that product/company again unless it broke after a long time/hard use).

Ha ha, born in Chicago, raised there and Alaska, then after uni in southern Cal, about 25 years here in Asia, not Hawaiian :) Btw, with the Jebao pumps you had Dloks, did you have any similar problems with the controller(s) not going up to max watts?

So is DCQ the newer model ? I have DCT and love them. Another member Fish Tank Travis Fish Tank Travis has them as well, forgot the model number but it's the newer version of what I have

Yes it is jaws7777 -- the evolution of Jebao's dc product line is a bit confusing, but I think they came out in this order: DC / DCS / DCT / DCP / DCQ -- though I'm happy to be corrected if mistaken.

I think the main difference between the DCP and DCQ models is that the latter has a "Four-pole electronic motor" -- whatever that is, I'm not the engineering type -- but which I suspect may make it even more quiet than previous models -- it really is super quiet.

Btw, what size DCT pump(s) are you using, and do the controllers really go to the max watts as stated?

I just did a little quick research and found what I think are the main differences. The DCQ pump has dry running and clogged impeller protection and is supposed to shut itself off in either scenario. It also has wave functionality so that tanks can be setup with wavelike current. Other than that, it looks to be very similar to the DCP pump, which is what I use and love. If one of my DCP pumps went out, I would probably replace it with one of these.

One thing about these though, I only saw sizes up to 10,000 lph compared to the DCP’s that go up to 20,000 lph.

You're right on all counts FTT -- I thought the DCP had wave function because the box says "Sine Wave Technology" lol, but just found that's what makes it quiet. And yeah, while I don't need anything that big, I do wonder why they're only offering 10,000 l/hr as the largest model (though I wouldn't be surprised if they have yet another line coming out that'll cover the larger pumps).

Idk the controller for the dct doesn't have a percentage read out. Hey im like you not an engineer lol doesn't matter what model we all buy. They are cheap, quiet and reliable !
