So i finally had the time to work on my 450 gallon tank (8x4x2).
current struggle is what color to paint the bottom of the tank. (black or white poll has been added)
i currently have 9 BD / hybrid BD rays. 4 of them are about 15 inchs. the rest are about 6 to 12 inchs.

what is the best and possible stress free way on moving the rays.
My plan will be to drain the current tank the rays are in, move the rays to hold tanks, move in the big tank in, make sure everything is level then fill the tank half way, put the rays in the new tank. while i work on the plumbing. then fill the tank.

how would i go about keeping the rays happy in the holding tanks (which most likely will be large round buckets.)

For me it's white as u have some hybrids, I as most hybrid needs light based tank to see it's full potential Or u can also colour it light blue it will be nice also.. Just my 2 cents opinion

White bottom makes the spots get/stay more white and sometimes even slightly bigger than if you put a BD in a tank with black bottom.

You should go with tile...then if you want to change it you can. Rubber nets are the best way to move rays.

thanks guys i was thinking maybe paint it black and then use white tiles. Then after debating for a while last night while cleaning the tank.....possible go and switch the color to white while doing that paint the back white as well.

do anyone of you with large tanks have a picture of white bottom and white backing with black rays?

Not black Ray's. But I am happy with white. Their last 300gal grow out was all black, I think they look brighter in the white tank.
