Is my green terror a male or female?

The stripes really don’t indicate male or female. Maybe a slightly better shot of the vent would help. Based on the first pics I’d be surprised if it’s a female, but the new pics suggest otherwise. Just compare the vent images MrsE88 put up and see which is closest to your Terror.
She is a female. She dropped her first set of eggs. Unfortunately I have nothing in my tank that could possibly fertilize them. I doubt my electric blue JD could. An I'm pretty sure it's impossible for the electric yellow African or my bumble be Africans could.
Easy to say now, but as I went through your thread I thought the tube looked like a female with eggs, size and shape. As far as dark vertical stripes, they're often called stress bars, common among cichlids, can appear on male or female of many species. In some species they tend to display more often when they're small and less often with size. "Stress" bars don't necessarily mean something's wrong with the fish, they're a form of body language and may indicate aggression, excitement, a dominance display, a defensive display-- or in this case spawning mood.
Goes to show that sexing still developing fish is a crap shoot. Everything about that first set of pictures indicated male, and then you get eggs a few weeks later. I’d probably try to find her a proven male. Guessing her offspring would be pretty fierce with her color and finage.
That is one beastly female GT. Mine was sooooo drab in color compared to yours. A good quality male would my top priority at this point lol
I'm gonna need to see these eggs......I would've bet money those first pics are of a male. Shows how much I know.
Thank You! She has all the qualities of a male. She has what I feel is a muscular look. Even as she grows bigger and bigger. If she wasn't dropping eggs once or twice a month I would have no clue. I did pick up another gt. He(hopefully) is only an inch ina half maybe 2. It has long pointed dorsals an all the early signs of male . My plan is to get rid of every fish except for my male and female bristle nose. Praying this works out an I don't have to start the guessing game over in 3 months
