I have raise about 200 Severum fry I have now thinned them out by giving a lot to my local LFS. I have been feeding them Omega One cichlid small pellets ( just recently) Kens premium flakes, 2 times a day and leaf of romaine lettuce daily. Sometimes they will munch on shrimp pellets too. I give a treat of frozen mysis shrimp and spirulina cubes every couple of weeks.

I am trying to figure out how often to feed these guys because I still consider them babies and they are supposed to be fed twice a day, at what time do I stop feeding twice a day and is a whole leaf of romaine too much for them everyday? I have never raised cichlids before so I really have no clue. Lol

Any recommendations would be great:)
Thank you so much.

Personally I like your feeding routine. After the 4 inch Mark you could feed once a day. Fully mature could skip a day.

Ok so what I am doing right now is ok? Should the leaf of romaine count as one meal as they consume the huge leaf in a couple hours, only the veins left. They are quit the pigs for sure. For flakes do I feed as much as they can eat in 30 seconds? The destroy the flakes super quick and I am trying to get them to grow as big as their father who past away about 3 weeks ago due to an internal injury from my female because she was getting very aggressive with him because she wanted to spawn with him again and I guess he didn’t feel like it, I really want a male that looks like dad. I miss his very much.

Don't change anything your doing. Keep your wc's consistent and they should grow. You may get a couple of runts but this is normal.

I went in yesterday to where I have been dropping them off and all my poor babies are half the size of mine a have a few that are about the size of a silver dollar like really round but the rest around 2 inches and shorter in height as I know the strongest ones will get bigger quicker because they get to the first very fast.

One other question I have that you may be able to answer is the father of the bunch was sold to me as a Green Severum but his chest was red and pectoral fins ( I think these are what they are called, the smaller ones in the front) were orange. Was he just a regular Green Severum or something else. I don’t know if it matters but he was wild caught. At least that’s what they told me as it was the owners fish. Just wondering if any of the babies would have this trait. My female I’d definitely just a normal Green Severum.

I have them in a 210 gallon tank and I do 50% water changes each week sometimes more depending on how much water I have in my well.

Tbh I not certain if any of the fry will turn out like the male. Other members will chime in with a definite answer. The water change % is what most would recommend.
