Spiny eels

Zig zag can get up to 20+inches in most aquariums if kept long enough. Peacocks will get 10inches.
For bichirs would suggest the larger eels. I have a mastecrmbalus dayi and will go into my bichir tank. Once it get some girth and length.

Rope fish can go with most any species of eel. With he bicher size would be a factor due to them both inhabiting similar areas I would go with a back spotted eel or fire eel...if u have space my personal favorite is the fire eel which can get up to 3 feet but is very personable.
if he has the tank size I'd say a with a bicher, rope fish, and fire eel you'd need a 125+
A fire eel would be awesome! But I'm afraid that I am pretty limited. My tanks 4ft. 125cm by 55cm by 55cm. With a 2 baby senegal bichirs, 2 ropefish and an african knife. Planning on getting a couple congo tetras and a bushfish. So I guess maybe no eels
