Beat live feeder fish or shrimp?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So what type of feeder would be recommended for an easy to breed fish?

Like said, you get much more balanced and consistent nutrition with quality dried or frozen fish foods.

My personal choice for my oscar and severum is Hikari bio gold plus. It doesn't have the most impressive ingredient list, but it results in a lot less mess between weekly water changes.

I think most are missing th3 point here..
I already have and feed my fish a variety of pellet stick freeze-dried and flake foods.
I simply want to add another food type to my fish's diet, I am not solely feeding them just feeders this will be a part of their diets..

So again I'm really just asking which type of feeder fish can breed in a 10 gallon aquarium something that breeds easily.

Guppies, they are probably the easiest fish to breed.....heck,you can buy a few dolla'rs worth of them scooped out of a lfs feeder tank and a lot of them will already be pregnant.

As everyone is saying the easiest is guppies. You dont seem to like that option. What others are saying is if its just for what you are saying its for you are wasting your time and money. Like I said if its a side project then great. You will not get a huge breeding group out of a 10g. It wont happen fast unless you pick already pregnant guppies. Then you will need to seperate the babies from the adults or the adults will eat them. If you can find pregnant females you wont need males for them ever again if the water and tank conditions are right they will be pregnant about once a month from now till they die. They store sperm. Pit some breeding mops in the tank or guppy grass or other long leafy stem plant for coverage.
If you are looking for larger or faster breeders I don't think its a viable option for what you have planned.
Danios dont breed half as easy or as fast as guppies.
My lfs has a breeding pair of jds right now that they cant get to stop breeding 150 for the pair. Youd need a 75 min to make them happy though. Those babies are an inch + in a month.

What about palties?
Guppies I don't mind at all lol just my lfs sells out of them the same day they get them in and it seems whenever I go there I'm always too late haha so I'd have to call em up and ask them to set a bakers dozen aside for me one of these days.

I don't think anything breeds as fast as guppies. Platys and mollies would be a close second. So yeah I guess that'd work.

Nice.. alright if I see guppies I'm buying a dozen or so but if not I'll grab some platies.

Also keep in mind, most guppies are already super inbred. Low quality of life. Especially if they are feeder guppies. So many of them die super quick. I had to swap in new males when they would die.

I made sure there was lots of thick vegetation to help preserve the new borns. If not they will eat them as they are giving birth. You want to feed them around 5 times each day, with smaller amounts because they are so fat with babies inside. Just need to make sure you are doing we fairly often. Also they say 12 hrs min of the light being on. Some have 2-3 babies survive and others have 20-30 survive. It’s very hit and miss with these creatures.
