I am now starting to look more seriously at getting a second tank, probably going to have a 100 by 50 cm footprint.
Australian/Papua new guinea, either a pair of Mogurnda mogurnda (Purple spotted gudgeon) , or Pseudomugil spp(blue eye) Tateurndina spp (pecock goby)

Sounds like a cool idea, very different from the usual. I have kept furcata rainbows before and really liked them. Looking forward to seeing this come about!

Had some of the smaller goby/gudgeon spp before, really liked them very personable and there are lots of rainbow spp to choose from for tankmates.

That sounds like it could be a very nice set up. I like the species, good looking fish.
I'm toying with moving on my Lents and trying an Eastern Thailand biotope. I would like a land area for vampire crabs and I've always been very fond of glass catfish. I need to research it more but want to move away from cichlids with my next set up.

Sounds good, especially with a land area, I think at times its easy to get fixated on cichlids, they're great interesting aquarium fish and I will probably have at least one tank with them, but there's lots of other interesting spp out there.

Totally agree. Cichlids can turn into an obsession. I think it would be nice to focus more on other families. There a so many interesting species out there. I've also been interested In trying some dwarf snakeheads, bicher and archer fish.
I also find myself growing more and more into the idea of dart frogs.
Who knows where it will end.

Been thinking of a ranid tank, with northern leopard frogs, bullfrogs, pig frog ,
And the. For the water sections do: striped killi, orangespotted sunfish,Pygmy sunfish, red lip shiner, flier, Redfin shiner, rainbow dace, scuds, maybe bluespotted sunfish.

For plants I was thinking: 1x bald cypress (bonsai), 1x arizona sycamore (bonsai), water arum, purslane, iris.
