Our latest addition to the family

Bought as an Albino Silver

She is growing out in our pup grow out tank, 2.2m x 700 but will eventually move to one of my son's bigger tanks with the big rays

She was half this size when she arrived and gave us a bit of a hard time to start eating but once she did, she now wolves down almost anything you give her that's frozen or insects/worms and is taking food from my hand

At this stage, still telling me to eat the pellets myself006.jpg 017.jpg

Thank you G Galantspeedz

Hahaha, you right.. does look look like we have similar taste in fish!!

We are hoping to be able to get another Asian while this one is still small in the hope it would help if they were brought up together but there hasn't been any Asians coming into the Country the last few months

We tried a silver and a RTG about 3 years ago but they were already semi adults and that did not work... In fact not much we can keep with the RTG.. she/he is just a terror
Accepts the rays and clown loaches and believe it or not any small fish you put in the tank that you would expect her to eat
She will live happily with the small fish until they get to about12/13cm.. once they get to this size she will chase them around to the point that they all hiding under something and you have to take them out. Its crazy

sounds like the RTG gets territorial once the others are of similar size and he deem them a threat .. the rays and loaches are bottom fish so i guess they don't invade it's space

mine are mostly around his size but he seems to be irritated by the 3 x 10" red devil/midas recently as they keep snatching his food... lol

your experience is making me have 2 thoughts on the comm... i hate to see torn fins..

Its strange G Galantspeedz .. Because the Super Red and Chilli are not that aggressive
I can put almost anything with them and no problem
Now and then they will chase someone across the tank that was maybe irritating them but nothing serious
I would be too scared to add any Aros with them now because they already 2/3 years old and set in their ways and territory.. I would be asking for trouble..

are your aros in a comm tank? i read that if the aro is place in a community tank at the start... they will be more receptive to new tank mates... my aro do not even though my angle fish last time

but i afraid the current aro will deem the albino aro as a competitor due to similar shape

There is only one Aro in each tank but they are in com tanks with other fish, in fact they grew up with other fish in their tank

The Red Tail Gold has always been very cheeky since small.
She was only about 17/18cm and we already started noticing that sometimes she chased the other fish around.
AS she grew and became older, ( she is 4 years old and measures 46cm last we measured) she became worse and worse.to the point where she will injure/stress a fish badly enough to kill it or the fish just hide away, like I said the strange thing is small fish that could be feeders if she wanted, she doesn't touch them, the minute they get to about 12/13cm she starts hunting them all the time...she is ok with the big rays and clowns...
My son had some BIG Danoids with her but had to take them out because they were hiding from her all time

The Red and Chilli are in com tanks with other fish, they also grew up from babies in a com tank but they are not aggressive like the RTG
Sometimes if a fish annoys them, they will chase it across the tank but then they leave it alone and all is well again
I have Datnoids, clowns, severums, flagtail, rays and had tinfoils.. no problem with the Aros

I have read that Red Tail Gold can sometimes be a aggressive

I also think each fish has its own character but if you want a com tank then get them used to be with other fish from small

If you want more than one Aro in the tank it must also be from small but this is luck..
Some people get it right... some dont
Again I think the fish's individual character plays a role
I also see that the success stories usually have a few arowanas together not just two
Its something you will have to try and see what happens

Haha again we have same fishes... I have datnoids too.. yeah I think the fish character makes a big difference... So far mine seems cool but I also seem him getting abit aggressive as compared to previous....

I think I shall not get the albino silver then

Congrats MariaS MariaS . Way to go. More fishes.

I really liked the albino, looks beautiful. However for the time being, I am going to stick with my only one Arowana - Flash. :-)

Thank you narayanang76 narayanang76 ,

She is part of our family but in my tanks I stick to Flash and Spooky,,,,,,
Ultimately she will go to one of my son's tanks but she is way too small to put her in with the adult rays so she will stay with Granny until we feel its safe to put her in that tank where she will be the only Arowana.
