I think I'm going to try and purchase the leiurus and see what I get.

keep us posted and I will do like as well. Mine should be arriving Tuesday. Aqua imports is easy to work with and he will send you pictures of the remaining fish if you ask him to.

Id say so. It looks really rough. They other doesn't look that healthy either imo.

These are all suppose to be leirus?

Real leiurus really has a long snout more than twice the diameter of the eye. They look just like the barbatus. Except the latter has a white belly with a sharp transition to the side and the back while on leiurus the transition is very gradual.

Real abei also may have a longer snout, but their eyespot is smaller and with age becomes more and more similar to the other spots until it cannot be differentiated from them anymore.

There may not be many real leiurus in trade in the USA and Europe.

Here is one linked from Japan:

I think the other one is thin but will most likely bounce back pretty nicely. I think they said the first one got beat up before initially and then they split them up. I imagine that one should turn out pretty nice too but I wouldn't touch it till healed.

The group of puffer they got before these seems like leirus. This group they are completely unsure of and kept the name. When I started asking about what was in stock they sent me pictures right away so there was a chance I knew what I was buying lol

Definitely cool looking puffers. You may want to deworm them...they look thin. Please post updates

Puffers came in. The second one appears to be an abei. Very skinny but eating so will see

I'm going to see if I can find an abei next yr.

How does the barbatus look?
