Walking Catfish Size?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We call them barbel here in South Africa or Sharp tooth Carfish , I have seen some over a meter in size in the wild .

3 and a half weeks ago i purchesed a marbled clarias batrachus, he was about 3" at purchess. hes now acheived a little over 6", he has literally doubled in size. hes fed a multitude of sinking food (all of which he stuffs down), he also eats pacific krill, mysis, muscles, north atlantic prawn, eats everything. I'v never seen a fish of his size eat so much and with such enthusiasm, I'm doing 20% water changes every 2 days in the grow out hes in, he's almost ready to be put in the 160g.
I totally advise any cat lover of purchesing this fish, loads of character and active during day time hours, easily one of the most active catfish out their (obveiously excluding the likes of loaches), thats including most varieties of syno . IMO the most attractive of the clariidae family.
Lucky for me i just purchesed an albino variety of batrachus at 1.5", actually can't wait untill they're 16" monsters :)

How about some pictures of your cool cats? :)

I bought 2 Albino walking catfish 2 months ago. At first one was about 5 cm and 3 cm , right now one is 8 cm and the other is 5 cm. They are also in the same tank as my Featherfin squeakers

hii .im new member .i need to know marble walking catfish is monster fish ? or not
I think it is relative... and also dependent on what you imply when you say monster - size, predation, aggression, all of the above?

They do get quite big indeed. The cichla monoculus was 45cm when i took this pic and the c. Batrachus is at least 10cm longer.
