How to setup a fish room

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my 5 year old niece almost knocked my 29 off it's stand, only reason it stayed is because I was there and able to catch the 300 pound tank
Yep,that's the kind of nonsense I was referring to.

My fish room is my whole garage. Insulated properly, it stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Big bay door allows for easy moves of large tanks also good for an exchange of fresh air.
Your garage sounds neat. How big is it and do you have any photos of it around here?

Great post white specter crayfish white specter crayfish !!!
thanks, I wanted to help newcomers to the hobby get started, obviously it's impossible to cover everything from cycling the tank to the tank set up to the fish and the tankmates to the filtration and water changes to the diet of the fish and so on

I do not have any photos here. I honestly haven't shared alot of my fish stuff here. I need to make a tour video when I get all my ponds repaired and the remodel finished. The garage is 16ft wide and 40ft long if I remember correctly. I have 12 running tanks in there right now and doing some build projects too. 3 tanks up stairs in tge house. I also have a shed that is full of just fish stuff. 5 ponds that I'm rebuilding. 5, 500g containers only one of which is running right now. ....I have an addiction lol

It's a work in progress. Its a build up of having been in the hobby for 31 yrs (still have my first tank).

There is a little boy who lives across the street who comes over all the time and hangs out. He talks alot. I mostly just listen, hand him a scrubbie and put him to work, show him crap under the microscope, nerd stuff... His parents dont really keep a close eye on him and I know for sure his dad drinks alot. I dont know that he's that into fish. I think he just wants to talk to someone who seems to listen and my garage door is often open lol.

I have a few vids of random tanks and ponds I had in the past. I've only recently began to upload things again. The channel is magscat3161 .We had a family tragedy a few yrs ago and I stopped doing pretty much anything online for a few yrs.

I also dont share a ton of stuff because I am more into show koi and goldfish and you guys like your monsters more. I still love y'all tho lol

The bichir is doing good. She finished her quarentine and is living with Lazarus now. They seem to be good room mates and leave each other alone.

The outlets is a major thing. Access to get bigger tanks in is another. I framed in a wall to finish half the basement then realized I couldn't get a 300 through the doorway.

Running piping for auto water changes is a must at this point as well.

Humidity control?

Nice list.
