Leak in my Fish Room

I've been MIA on here for a couple of days. Tuesday, Laz's tank sprung a leak. Not a catastrophe but certainly kept me busy. I'm not entirely surprised. It was an old tank and when my fish room had to be gutted and cleaned after hurricane Florence, moving and jostling around an old tank is never good for the seals.

Fortunately, the new sealant on the 125 I had picked up 2 weeks ago had finished curring a few days before this happened. I built the new doubles rack faster than I had wanted to. So Laz and Gemma are hanging out in the bottom tank right now.

I had planed to completely redo his tank anyway but this is forcing me to step up my time table. I've stripped the tank and removed all the old silicone. Going to reseal it Friday. Can't work on it tmrw becasuse I'm pulling over time in the lab. Once I get it back up and running I have this plan to build a planted rock & cave feature... I've got it in my head just not sure how to describe it. It'll look cool, cross my heart! And I promise I will post pics. I know I suck in terms of putting pics up.

Omg its been such a terrible day! Anyway, PICS!

So this is Laz's old tank all striped down. This is 125gs but its short, fat, and deep rather than the standard 6ft 125. It's turned on its side so I can get in to work on it. Did not get the seals done on it like I planned. Its been a really bad day. I still have to build a proper stand for this which is in the works for this weekend.

This is the 125s double rack we slapped together a little faster than I would have liked. It will hold but again it is function over form so I will have to pretty it up when I get Laz back in his old tank. Right now I've just set the light on top. I have a second 125 to go on top, just havent had time to tackle it yet.20181102_181731.jpg
When I finish this stand it wil be all closed in, painted and polished. Tanks will be filtered properly rather than the HOBs and sponges I'm making due with right this sec.

I will be glad when we get the whole remodel done this coming summer. Everything will match and look right as oppose to this hodge-podge mess I have going on right now.

You’re doing great with all that’s been thrown at you. I hope this weekend goes easier on ya.
I really like the potted plants in the tank. I’ve never seen plants in a tank with glass pots. It looks good.

Super cheap way to keep plants in a bare bottom lol. They are little betta bowls picked up from the dollar store. Im growing the plants out for another display but Laz has the good light right now lol

Got Laz's tank sealed today and picked up the lumber and hardware for the stand. Going to try to get out tmrw to pick up the stones for this hide build. Also going to see what options I have for sand. I wish I didnt have to work tonight so I could get the stand started.

We are a little closer to the finish line. Halfway thru the stand build. Still have to referb the tank and plumb it. I have picked up the stones for the hide build. Havent been able to work on it tho. My dad's poor health has me running back and forth between home and hospital so I've only been able to work on this while I'm waiting for news. I'm thankful for the distraction.

Me too. He had a stroke last friday. They had been doing tests and sent him home Sunday. he went in for another visit this morning and had another one today while under care. I want to be at the hospital but my mom keeps sending us away until there is something to tell us. Strained family relations strain harder with things like this. *sighs*
