Thinking of adding black sand to my dovii tank. However, the tank has a painted black background and im worried it might look to dark and i wont like it.

If anyone one has this current set up could you please post a pic so i can see how it will look before taking the plunge???

I don’t have dovii, but I do have a black background and black sand.

I’m very happy with the black on black. All I need is some greenery. I just haven’t decided what I want yet.
Your tank looks awesome!!! The colours of the fish and decor really pop.

The lighting looks good too. I have a light grey tiled bottom at the moment, which I feel reflects good light throughout the tank and was worried going black on black the lighting will will dull off. But i really rate your tank.

Darkens there colors for sure at least in my tanks
What fish do you keep, do you have a pic you can share?

I've heard it can either make fishes colour really pop, or really darken them off (depending on the fish)

The GTs in MrsE88 black on black setup look awesome. I think my dovii will have a simular look with its blue and green patterns and pearls.

RdJag420 RdJag420 Is right. Depending on the fish, some will darken up on dark sand. My male has not.
From what I can tell, it’s the pearling/color that makes the difference. Males being full of colored iridescent scales don’t seem to darken, but stand out. Females having much less colored scales change color depending on mood, stress, and their environment, but the color they do have does pop.

I have black gravel and black background my Male gold barred Midas just stays black no bars no gold just black, but my female is stunning she stays barred up displaying her gold bars.
