Best pellets for bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I ordered some Aq. Foods earthworm and blackworm sticks. I will let you know how it turns out. My kelberi are not pellet trained. Spit out the sticks. They have started eating freeze dried krill. Now when they eat it they strike it like maniacs. Which is good because Oscars were eating everything and getting too fat. I stuff a Hik stick in the krill when I feed the bass. They practically jump out of the tank.

Thanks that will be interesting to see. My bass is about 16" and will eat maybe 20-30 jumbo carnivore sticks a nite. But gets bored and just spits them out after a while. He won't strike at anything, likes to be real finicky.

I have this problem with my bass as well I feed them every other day two eat well and two are fairly skinny. All the bass will pick the pellets off the bottom and spit them out a bunch of times before they eat them if they eat them. I also tried cut tilapia seemed like a hit but after a few days same response. Not sure what to try to get these guys to eat more. Suggestions?

I know alot of people say Hikari but I personally stay away from the stuff. Starch, wheat, soy etc binders/fillers are usually the 3rd listed ingredient. I also find it makes a big mess in the tank. Food brands without fillers that I feed mine are Ocean Free, Northfin (Canadian), and Nutrafin Bug Bites. Just my 2cents

I agree, I compared a few different brands and settled on Northfin. I’m going to mix it 5:1 with Hikari gold.

I’ll throw my vote out for Massivore pellets. My bass eat those very well and they eat some of the frozen tilapia, shrimp, and scallop mix that I make for my fire eels. The frozen food mix could be another option, if you want to try that. I get about 8 lbs of food for less than $25.
