hello everyone i have never kept these fish before and was interested in compatibility, i am putting together a 125 gallon tank with 8 clown loaches 1 black ghost knife fish and 2 African leaf fish, my question is how aggressive are these fish? will it mess with my loaches or knifefish? the bichir is very small roughly 3 inches and juvenile, i plan to introduce all at once if it changes anything, thanks everyone.

They are an aggressive species but with the others you plan on it should be fine. They dont get big enough to pose a threat to the loaches at least once the loaches are 3+ inches. Senegal bicher are some of the smaller and least aggressive of the polypterus species.....usually. Individuals vary but overall pretty safe.

Love how they call it "Dinosaur Bichir" LOL. The Senegal is a peaceful poly, they wont mess with anyone at all. Just make sure the other fish aren't large and aggressive because if the little sen is real small 2-3" then the other fish might actually pick at him.

it says max size 18 inches im guessing thats wrong? i have never had one before but love the look of them.

Just to let ya know ahead of time in case you do get him so you can avoid any issues. They are little escape artists so make sure if you have any openings around your filter or heater and such that you cover those up well so he can't get out of the tank. Also they breath air and will come to the surface for a gulp of air every 15 mins or so, so make sure your water level is not completely right up to your lid/hood. Leave a little room for him to go grab some air.
