That’s neat. I didn’t know you could use all kinds of different leaves- makes sense though. Are there any kinds of leaves that we should not use that would be toxic or something?

Is this for the bolivian rams you mentioned on another thread?
They will be fine and breed at ph7.5.
You could add a lot more leaves.

Yes I'll be adding bolvian rams but hopefully they dont Brees as much since there will be schools of neons, black neons, rumynose, cories and maybe a pair of Angel's as well.

The only leaves I am aware of that are toxic, are walnut leaves and leaves from trees of the same family. It is said the the toxins break down after 4 to 5 weeks when exposed to air and water, but I have not risked using them.
It is also said that the leaves of certain cherry trees contain a cyanide type toxin. I had a pond for one summer under a bing cherry tree which received lots of fallen leaves and cherries, and the fish in the pond lived quite well.

I just order XL almond leaves online $15 for a bag of 50. I dont trust or would risk collecting dry leaves. Just too much of a hassle and just easier to order almond leaves online when it's only $15
