New stand for my 135

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What is the top board the tank is sitting on? I would be too worried that the weight would cause it to fail with all the weight going to the center like that.

Edit: Don't get me wrong I dig it just makes me nervous.

The top piece is 36x24 1" solid pine. Between that and the stumps is a 18x28 piece of 3/4" plywood to reinforce the weight bearing portions of the stand.

A nice stain and multiple coats of varnish is what I would have went with. Still very nice

The light cedar wood didnt quite pop the right way with our light gray/blue walls. The other furniture ive made on this level has black lacquered base and legs so i decided to go with the distressed black lacquer look. Varnish is only necessary when theres a nice exposed grain to accentuate imo, wouldve been too glossy. Im gonna use a single coat of wipe on poly over the whole thing and call it finished. Thanks for your input though.
