Has anyone ever kept an Iridescent Shark its full size?

I must assume the OP's purpose is to deride the chain stores and their misleading fish labels. If so, this is a 1-2 decade old news.
Unfortunately, the changes to reflect the reality are indeed slow to come, complicated by the fact that some IDS indeed grow to significantly smaller sizes versus others.
This has been discussed in some depth for instance here: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/posts/6054229 To this thread, I must add my new experience that properly housed IDS is, IMHO, unlikely to grow to only a foot or so. I had had an albino IDS who I thought was the runtest of the runts and grew to ony 8"-9" after 3 years with us. It too was exceedingly flighty in its "spacious" 240 gal 8x2x2. Eventually I rolled the dice and placed it in a 4500 gal. It paid off. The IDS started feeding better (it fed before seemingly more or less ok) and started growing quickly. It was a few months ago and the fish is 1.5' currently and not stopping.
Hence, I must surmise that perhaps all or most of the reports from MFK-ers that their IDS refuse to grow properly for years are related to the housing - their fish, just like mine, were stressed in too small tanks, by too boisterous or harassing tank mates, or somehow else.

there are exceptions to every rule.... i.d.'s are just incredibly slow growing and not many stand the test of time to achieve their potential. this pictured i.d. is around 30yrs old.

The exceptions surely exist but IDK what exactly you mean by an "incredibly slow growing"? It depends on the life phase. After reaching 2.5', I'd agree.
A healthy and well-kept IDS, even though a cull from the IDS farmed for food (which I think they all are in our trade) but still having average, inferior, cullable genes, reaches 2' in ~1.5 years from 3". Speaking from experience with many IDSs.
I did mean their actual full size but wanted to point out how much chain stores push the falsehoods about them. Beyond that they seem like a cool fish to keep.
I was thinking the same thing. Looks just like the video thumbnail from YouTube except the guy in the photo is much less grey haha.
id s will grow 40 inches in a few years but when kept in too small a tank will bang themselves all up I n nature they swim in very large schools and are very fast and strong swimmers This fish does not really belong in the aquarium trade as very few hobbyists can provide proper housing fot them I have seen 4 footers at the Toledo Zoo many years ago.
